The Work Readiness and Career Planning Certificate enables students with intellectual and developmental disabilities to develop the basic planning, time management, technology, communication and self-advocacy skills necessary to enhance their ability to secure and maintain competitive integrated employment. This certificate is a gateway into other noncredit and credit programs, helping students develop the work readiness skills they need to qualify for additional educational and vocational opportunities.

There are no prerequisites for this program and courses are open to all students.

1. Relate the role of person-centered thinking and self-determination to career exploration, planning, and goal attainment
2. Use advocacy skills, vocational planning, and prioritizing strategies based on their identified strengths and support needs in educational and vocational settings and in the community at large
3. Describe legislation and related services that impact vocational, educational, and support service options and opportunities in the community and incorporate this knowledge into an action plan
