Legal Studies in Business, Certificate of Achievement (C)
The goal of the Legal Studies in Business Certificate of Achievement is to prepare students for careers in the legal profession. Objectives include acquiring skills in critical thinking, persuasive communication, analytical writing, and a foundational understanding of the behavioral and social sciences to critically analyze issues in public policy consistent with legal standards.
The Legal Studies in Business certificate provides foundational knowledge that can support students in pursuing further education or training toward careers in the legal and public service fields, including roles such as litigation attorney, judge, mediator, paralegal, consultant, educator, corporate/in-house lawyer, court administrator, government administrator, public relations specialist, lobbyist, advocate, correctional officer, criminal investigator, or politician.
The Legal Studies in Business Certificate program provides core and elective courses for students seeking a career in law. The curriculum includes the core elements and skills necessary to acquire gainful employment in a wide variety of legal careers and emphasizes skills in legal research, critical thinking and written/verbal communication.
Certificate of Achievement Requirements
Complete all Major Requirements for the Certificate of Achievement with a C or better or Pass in each course. Candidates for a Certificate of Achievement are required to complete at least 20% of the major requirements through SBCC.
