American Culture and Family Engagement for ESL Students, Certificate of Competency
This noncredit certificate provides parents with the knowledge and tools to navigate the K-12 public school system while creating home environments that support their children’s learning. Participants develop skills to express expectations for their children’s academic achievement and become actively involved in their education at school and in the community. The program introduces American culture and values through teacher-led discussions, readings, writings, and interactive activities, helping students explore how notable people, places, and events shaped American beliefs, attitudes, and the concept of the American Dream. Instruction is designed for beginning high and intermediate level ESL students, with language and activities tailored to support practical communication, cultural understanding, and family engagement.
