Music, Department Award (D)
This one year curriculum will cover three broad areas: historical, theoretical and skill based music courses (musicianship, technique classes, performance ensembles).These courses are intended to give the student a complete introduction to a course of study in music, culminating in a department award in Music.
Complete all department requirements with a “C” or better in each course.

1-unit each semester for a total of two semesters. May be passed by exam for experienced pianists.

Minimum of 1-unit each semester for a total of two semesters. Private organizations outside of the college curriculum do not count as a Performance organization for music majors.

Two semesters of Applied Music [MUS 185 Applied Music] may be used to satisfy this requirement

Private voice or instrument lessons for those who are enrolled in Musicianship, Theory, and a Performance organization and are chosen by an audition held the first Friday of the semester
The program of study can be completed in one year and covers three broad areas; historical, theoretical and skill-based music courses, i.e., musicianship, technique classes, historical survey and performance ensembles. These courses are intended to give the student a complete introduction to a course of study in Music, culminating in a Department Award in Music. There are neither college requirements nor General Education requirements that need be taken.
